Cancer Center

New construction for a 23,000 sq. ft. professional medical office building including an MRI suite and a Cancer Radiation Vault. The challenge was to design this building to appear friendly, modern and “young-at-heart” for the younger patients, and still accommodate a massive concrete vault (including a 4’ roof/ceiling and wall structure). The roof system, orientation, glazing and overhangs help keep the building cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Also, a solar operated “clerestory” window sytem was incorporated in the lobby & public areas to vent the summer heat, in West Texas.
